[line] NASA's newest spacecraft is headed toward Mars on a mission to dig for traces of water, transmit pictures and (for the first time) listen for sounds! This is the first mission that will attempt to return with material from the planet's surface. Here is must-read article from CNN.

The Mars Pathfinder is the second of NASA's low-cost planetary missions and landed on the Martian surface on July 4, 1997. The mission consists of a stationary lander and a surface rover. The primary objective of the mission is to demonstrate the feasibility of low-cost landings on, and exploration of, the Martian surface.

SNC Meteorites
There are three types of achondrite meteorites that are classified as SNC (shergottite, nakhlite, chassignite). As each of these types are very similar, scientists believe that they came from the same parent body. This class of meteorites contain some very unique characteristics which have also led scientists to believe that they may have originated on Mars. The photo to the right is of the Zagami meteorite, which fell in Nigeria on the 3rd of October in 1962.

Other Resources!
Rather than try to re-invent the wheel and place a bunch of other interesting martian facts on this page, we have decided to provide a quick list of links to the many other web sites that are discussing this exciting issue! Some are official (NASA, etc...) and some are not!
